Isn’t it “praying” the same with “affirmations”?

Question by Kool D: Isn’t it “praying” the same with “affirmations”?
Most of the people known as great self development experts talk about “affirmations” that is to say something to yourself over and over until you truly believe it. Isn’t that what praying does repeating something over and over so you believe it.

That would be true if prayer were only talking to yourself, which it isn’t. God is at the other, and more powerful end of the conversation. “Affirmations” have their place, but there’s only so much that positive thinking can achieve.
