    No the list doesn’t show things in deadline order, however you are scanning the whole list every day so you can see which deadlines are coming up, then choose to work on those tasks. What this system doesn’t do is tell you if you have taken on too much, or how much time you need to work daily to get a task done. I’ve never been good at estimating, so blocking time into a diary (a totally different approach to Autofocus) didn’t for me. Find what works for you. This is just one approach.

    if you work with a lot of deadlines that don’t have dates one after the other, then your list won’t be shown by those deadlines. You could have things due in a month on one page and something that comes up tomorrow that’s due in a day.

    This guy’s list only works if you’re already good at prioritizing. If not, this system will only make it overwhelming as you’re constantly chained to rewriting a giant list of equally visually important items. There’s no grouping or prioritizing built in

    You can add any kind of task to the list. It’s advisable to break big tasks into smaller steps or tasks, or add the first small step or task, then once it’s complete add the next. Regarding prioritising, you can write a deadline date with the task if the date is something you are likely to forget. As you are ideally reviewing all tasks every day, you stay aware of deadline, so your “feeling” will likely be “I know I must work on this to meet the deadline.” Hope that helps

    This is bullshit. It only works if you have little things to do like “do laundry” or “feed the cat” that you can do when you ‘feel’ like it. What if you have time-sensitive items or things with varying deadlines to prioritize? The whole point of trying to organize is to not have to think about ‘feeling’ you need to get it done but to show you when to get it done by.

    He says – Closed list effect. You get a sense of completing your list, rather than seeing a never-ending stream of next actions. Mark has a new updated system on his website now. See the link in the panel top right

    Sorry my hearing is on the blink but @ around 1:30 into the video Mark is says “it creates a _____ effect”. What is this effect? closed-list / closer / kloser / closet???

    I just get lost in the administrivia of GTD.

    This ALMOST looks too trivial to be useful. Which, almost immediately after I thought it I realized is one of those great signs of accessibility.

    Looking around for the right notebook now.

    We are all different, and so different systems work foror or different people. Mark has done a great job with offering various ideas around time management that we can pick from. I’m pleased you found that ” do it tomorrow” works for you.

    Hi Audrey. Mark offers so many ideas in his books. I’m sure you will find many valuable ideas if you buy them all! You can try the autofocus system straight away if you visit his website – there is no book for this new system. Best wishes T

    I read and enjoyed Mark’s book Do It Tomorrow, but this system looks more like the works of a madman to me. I mean, where are we as a species, if we need such a construct to do our stuff. Think about it: You might as well just do what’s on your mind, the result will be the same. And we also need to question David Allen as well. I like GTD, but I am not a robot, nor an obsessive compulsive.
