Question by : I am getting a stress test on my heart what are the chances of me having a heart attack right there?
I am a 42 year old female. I have not had a history of heart problems but I am just now getting chest pains and dizziness. How safe is the stress test.
They will not do it on the treadmill I am not cordinated enough lol. They put an IV with liquid in it and it speeds up the heart.
I usually have about 90 beats per minute

As a 42 year old female (without any knowledge of your other medical problems) your risk of actually having ischaemic heart disease is low.
A stress test (and I’m presuming they are doing the treadmill test) involves you walking on a treadmill with ECG/EKG leads attached. The doctor performing the test will be monitoring both your health and the heart tracing. If there are any concerning changes on the ECG/EKG or you start to feel unwell, then the test is stopped and the doctor will undoubtedly manage you appropriately.
The test itself is very safe.

The stress test will show you how relaxed you really are. Remember, the weakest link is YOU!

You are having a Pharmacological Stress Test Hu, I have worked in Cardiology for many years & have yet to see someone have a heart attack while doing one of these. I have had people show signs of a heart attack during a walking treadmill, but never with the drug. You will do fine. Good Luck!
