Does anyone know any good relaxation books?

Question by Showtunesailor: Does anyone know any good relaxation books?
Does anyone know of any good/famous books that teach relaxation and spiritual well being? I’m particularly interested in Buddhist-type teachings, but I am fine with taking a general relaxation book.

If you want to relax by reading, read Terry Pratchett. I once read a book on tap dancing. Still can’t tap. If you don’t do the practices, reading won’t help.

If you are asking for books on the practices, Sharon Salzsberg or Lama Surya Das are good.

Nembutsu or Metta meditation are probably your best bet, with meditation on following the breath a close third. Preferably sitting alone in a quiet, dim place with maybe a little incense.

In my experience Vidharshana Meditation in Buddhsim gives the 100% relaxation to the body, and therby the mind. I think nirvana is that. But it requires much understanding and patient practice. In short: See in meditation who you are as 1. ever changing (anithya – You can see this by applying The Heisenberg Princple to thought forms ) 2. subject to suffering (dukkha) and no soul (anathma) Such seeing in the proper way makes all your body cells including all the neurons in the brain to be 100% relaxed, because you are % 100 sure there is NO ONE WITHIN YOUR BODY to be attached to as any thought form. None of the thought forms including the thought forms of ‘I’ ‘me’ ‘mine’ will be seen as anybody’s in such meditation. No one will be seen as rejecting anything too. Limit this view only to the period of meditation. All cells including neurons have relaxed so much there will be no problem for you during that period. After many days of practice, you will see this as the true situation in everything making you feel as if free in everything. Do not give up anything unwillingly—-

Some better documents will apppear in the folloing URLs in about 2 or 3 weeks. [not sure]
