Metz Culinary Management Promotes Healthy & Balanced Diet for National Nutrition Month in March

Dallas, Pa. (PRWEB) February 29, 2012

Metz Culinary Management, a leading provider of dining management services, is promoting Get Your Plate in Shape for National Nutrition Month (March 2012) to its 135 accounts. This promotion encourages patrons to consume the recommended amount of fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins and dairy every day.

A balanced diet and healthy food choices is something we stress to all of our accounts throughout the year, said Maureen Gallagher, Vice President of Marketing at Metz Culinary Management. Our promotion for National Nutrition Month is a way we can remind everyone to focus on the importance of making informed decisions about food and developing sound nutrition and physical activity habits.

For the Get Your Plate in Shape promotion, Metz Culinary Management will use merchandise and activity sheets from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to increase awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition. MyPlate, a visual tool divided into five sections with suggested food groups for each area, will be emphasized and implemented throughout all accounts as well.

Metz Culinary Management will also host cooking demonstrations, offer nutrition quizzes and print recipe cards provided by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for their healthcare, corporate dining and higher education accounts. To promote National Nutrition Month to its school district accounts, Metz Culinary Management will provide MyPlate presentations, special taste testing events for students, healthy smoothie samplings, coloring and trivia contests, frequent diner promotions, and bring your parents/grandparents to breakfast day.

School accounts will also participate in National School Breakfast Week (March 5-9) and Go for the Greens (March 16), an annual celebration featuring green fruits and vegetables on the school breakfast/lunch menu.
