Question by : Should a 91 year old women have a chemical stress test?
My mother is 91 years old and has a pace maker. She is suppose to have a nuclear/chemical stress test next week. She will not be able to do the bicycle so they will give her the medicine to get her heart rate up. Could this cause a heart attack in a 91 year old?

If the cardiologist didn’t think she could handle the test, it wouldn’t be ordered. Plus, they *very* carefully monitor her vital signs, and at the *first* sign her heart can’t handle it, they call it off.
