Psychologists Release New Techniques to Reduce Stress and Anxiety

(PRWEB) November 8, 2005

Melbourne psychologists release a new CD, “Relaxation: Techniques to Reduce Stress and Anxiety,” to help people learn to relax. Everyone experiences a level of stress and anxiety in their daily lives, but too much can affect both physical and mental health. In fact, 1.3 million Australians can expect to be affected by anxiety disorders this year (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 1997).

Dr. Lillian Nejad and Katerina Volny are clinical psychologists who have extensive experience working with people who face a variety of difficulties including stress and anxiety. “Over the years, we have seen first-hand the positive effects of learning and practicing relaxation skills,” says clinical psychologist, Dr. Lillian Nejad. “We felt that it was important to raise people’s awareness of these simple and effective techniques.”

“The benefits of learning relaxation techniques are broad, from improving your golf game to helping you overcome fears. It can help people manage everyday stress as well as reduce anxiety associated with more significant impairment,” adds Katerina Volny, psychologist and co-author.

The CD contains seven distinct relaxation exercises as well as separate tracks explaining the rationale for practicing this skill, guidelines for relaxation, and an introduction for each exercise, all accompanied by soothing background music.
